Jason W. Voos
I'm constantly processing observations in many perpectives,
maintaining continuous discovery,
undistorting information for a personal spiritual evolution
that displays itself in my art.
WORK DESCRIPTION
I create images reflecting my connection with
the universe.
Art is my form of meditation.
My mediums are oil, digital, and photography
and the written word.
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Russell, Kansas. As of 2004 moved to California.
Voos won his first art competition in the third grade.
Growing up under his grandfather?s hawk eye,
from a very young age, time was spent everyday doing everything
from folk art, sketching, wood burning, whittling, and painting.
Plans to continue his education at college where stifled
by a
disabling head injury at 17.
My art is the reality of my life."
Described as an angry young man, he challenges society to
look past the traditional training of institutions and recognize
inherent talent.
A diploma on the wall is just that - a framed piece of paper.
It may not be worth the paper it is printed on if there is no
talent...
My artwork has been increasingly
emerging as my solace,
which I believe is why most people
look at art, to escape momentarily
from their world into another.
I lost my father, uncle, and
grandfather in a very short time span.
My art now reflects the
human condition of life
after so many deaths.
Almost a forced escape
A new reality
Where pain
Is on the canvas,
For those who wish to see
Could you feel my pain?
Forcing you to remember my name

Pain is simply a fuel which feeds my fire
Creating a passion turning, into desire
Pain creates your destiny, some call it fate,
Soaking up the pain
Accept life
What is absorbed transforms into a mental
escape
Art
Can you relate?
"I noticed that you tended to slam art education.
I went to the ***** Art Institute and your
quotes and comments about teaching art
offended me"
email:
SO I AM UNDERSTOOD
It never dawned on me people would take my words this way.
I figured they would be thrilled I was able to figure it out on my own.
I am in no way slamming art education.
It was not aimed at art education, or the value of it.
It was more that you cannot use the lack of a diploma
to not try and succeed at the things you are capable of.
Do not use the diploma as your measure of self worth, if it is impossible to attain.
I have found people have more prejudice against people without degrees,
than people with disabilities.
The point of the quote was anyone, disabled or not, can do anything they put their mind to.
For me, to use the excuse, I couldn?t attend classes, seems like a poor life choice.
Talent is given as a gift.

I am not impressed by a pretty piece of paper.
I am a man of "show me".
You show me a wonderful or haunting painting and I am impressed .
GO TO SCHOOL IF YOU CAN.
STAY IN SCHOOL.
FEED YOUR MIND, SPIRIT, AND SOUL BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!
"You can't teach anything in a book that will be of much use, except to
those already running over with natural ability ----Harold Speed
(Oil Painting Techniques and Materials, reprint 1987 Dover Publications,)
DISABLED
Undaunted, he began a vigorous course of study in art
and computer generated special effects for video work.
He also wrote screenplays winning several awards
for his efforts in storytelling.
Increasingly, Voos found more solace in the digital works and oils,
spending much of his time everyday studying, viewing, and doing art.
He has a love of photography, learning the correlation between subject and image
captured, once being a model himself.
